Thanks to the generosity of the Seahawk community, the UNCW Student Emergency Fund – a donor-supported fund – nearly $300,000 in financial assistance has been provided to UNCW students experiencing hardship. Following the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene, there has been a significant increase in requests for emergency support, more requests than the available funds can provide.

Faced with unpredictable challenges, ranging from medical expenses and family crises to housing insecurity and transportation issues, many of the more than 1,200 Seahawk students – hailing from western North Carolina, east Tennessee, Georgia and Florida – need support.

Making a gift to the UNCW Student Emergency Fund will help these Seahawks begin to recover and ensure the fund can continue to support students in need.

The UNCW Student Emergency Fund was established in 2018 following Hurricane Florence and has provided aid to thousands of Seahawk students who have encountered unforeseen difficulties threatening their ability to continue their education or disrupting their academic progress.
